The Hat in Virgo

Captured 2 May 2025

The Sombrero Galaxy (Messier 104) is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Virgo, roughly 31 million light-years away. It's known for its bright nucleus, unusually large central bulge, and the striking dust lane that cuts across its disk, giving it the brimmed-hat silhouette it's named for.
