First Attempt: The Orion Nebula

Captured 12 February 2023

First attempt at capturing the Orion Nebula (Messier 42 or M42), a stunning stellar nursery and one of the few nebulae visible to the naked eye. With an apparent size of 1 degree — twice that of the moon — and being the brightest nebula in the night sky, it can be observed even in moderate light pollution. Formed from collapsing clouds of gas and dust, the Orion Nebula is the closest site of massive star formation to Earth.
