Omega Centauri (NGC 5139 or Caldwell 80) is the largest globular cluster in our galaxy, located in the constellation Centaurus. This captivating cluster is visible to the naked eye, appearing as a faint, hazy patch in the southern sky and nearly as large as the moon on a dark night. Containing approximately 10 million stars densely packed together, with an average distance of about 0.1 light-years between them, Omega Centauri showcases a remarkable diversity of stellar populations, including older red giants and younger blue stars.
