Jupiter and the Galilean Moons

Captured 28 October 2023

Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, dominates the night sky with its stunning bands of clouds and the Great Red Spot. In this image, its four largest moons — Io, known for its volcanic activity; Europa, which may harbor a subsurface ocean; Ganymede, the largest moon in the solar system; and Callisto, with its heavily cratered surface — are all visible. Together, these celestial bodies offer a glimpse into the dynamic nature of the Jovian system.
